"How Deep Are Your Pockets?"
by Vernee' Brock

What does your financial portofolio look like? Better yet, do you have a financial portfolio? Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to give you another question to think about. When you die, will you leave your grieving loved ones assets or debt?

Speaking as a poverty-stricken, single mom, what can we as African-Americans do to get out of the red ink and well into the black? Why is it that so many people of other nationalities can come here (U.S.) to become proud home owners and successful entrepreneurs while African-Americans, (in Pittsburgh anyway) are just getting by from check to check?

Could it be that we don't prioritize correctly? Could it be that we spend too much on wants and not enough on needs? Do we lack ambition and motivation? Could it be we don't know how to sacrifice on order to save? Do we live above our means; or could it be all of the above?

I don't know about you, but I'm definitely tired of robbing Peter to pay Paul and still owing bill money. This article is not meant to provide any answers. The purpose of this article is to get some feed-back from the community, so that we can help each other.

I'm positive all of us would love to be financially secure. All of us would love to be able to send our children through college without depending on grants and loans. I'm sure all of us would love to know that when we have this world, our families would be taken care of.

So people, if you're tired of being broke like myself, please respond to this article. I would really appreciate hearing what all the great minds out ther have to say about this particular issue. Let's try to dig ourselves out the money pit and strive to "Get Rich or Die Trying"
