A WORD TO THE WISE
FROM CEO AND FOUNDER

By Amira Crosby | Urban Agenda
(Amira Crosby is a rising junior at City Charter High School in Pittsburgh, PA. This is her first year as a student in the Frank Bolden Urban Journalism Workshop which is a part of the PBMF Workshop.)
As a 5-year-old entertainer dancing has always been first with Ashley Woodson. A few years later at 10 years old he and his brothers formed the group “The Mini Globe Steppers,” Ashley Woodson savored the limelight that came with being on television and in newspapers.
Today, as founder of the Brotha Ash Productions entertainment company, he shines that light on celebrities such as The O'Jays, The Temptations, and Russell Simmons. Promoting black culture, the Hill District and unrecognized talent out of Pittsburgh is part of Ashley Woodson's lifelong dream to work for himself and uplift others.

MR. AND MRS. THURSTON MOSLEY ON THEIR NEW LIFE TOGETHER
By Ashley G. Woodson for Brotha Ash Productions Media
Since we love to shout out the positive things happening in our communities, Brotha Ash Productions Media wants to take this time to congratulate Thurston and Vanessa Mosley on their marriage that took place a few weeks ago. Family and friends gathered at the Local 249 Tempster Hall in Lawrenceville where my cousin Thurston Mosley and his beautiful wife Vanessa tied the knot and it was a beautiful occassion. Everyone was dressed to impress, especially the bride and groom. It was great to see you people I haven't seen in years and it was good to meet some new people as well.
We will "ALWAYS" showcase and shout out people who are doing positive things with their lives and in the community because we know that what God has for you, no one can take that away. Keep doing what you are doing and remember that we are so happy so for both of you here at Brotha Ash Productions Media.

MINDLESS BEHAVIOR WORLD TOUR HIT PITTSBURGH FOR THEIR FANS By Ashley G. Woodson for the New Pittsburgh Courier
Mindless Behavior is coming to Pittsburgh to perform for their fans this summer from their "All Around The World Tour" at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland Aug. 1. The concert will also feature special guest OMG Girlz and SCR Scream Team.
In 2008, Mindless Behavior was born from a concept created by Conjunction Entertainment Inc. CEO Walter Millsap. An audition was held and out of 600 people the four were chosen to come together as a group. The teen quartet — Prodigy, Roc, Ray Ray and Princeton would soon become a national phenomenon.
Since then the R&B group has stepped on the music scene and began to take over the world with their style of dance and song.
The name Mindless Behavior was already created by their manager Keisha Gamble.

The segment airs Thursday mornings and repeats at night on Nightcap in Dallas and on News Fix in Houston.

Enjoy the latest release from project title "All Again" & stay tuned for "The King's Son"!!
In the meantime while everyone is waiting for "The King's son" to officially release. LiL-D Da Prince always working hard to provide new content to his fans, could not sit around or leak anymore songs from the album. SMOKEDOUT EMERGES FROM 'OFFICIAL 100% ZAGGIN'
By Ashley G. Woodson for the New Pittsburgh Courier
Smokedout of the "Official 100% ZaggiN" is a solo artist that has taken the mainstream by storm. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, he understood the chances of making it in the rap game were against the odds, yet he stuck his chest out, kept his head up, and gained fans all over the world. His music is hot and he would be a good fit for any major label. He is a hard worker who takes his work seriously.
The Dream Tour concert featuring Maze and Frankie Beverly along with Ginuwine and El Debarge was off the chain. This event was brought to you by the Lawson Entertainment Group, LLC with Ginuwine as the host. He also performed and had the ladies going crazy with his performance. When it was time for El Debarge to perform, everyone was in anticipation because he hasn't performed in Pittsburgh in years. As soon as he hit the stage, he sang all of his hits as well the hits from "Debarge" and even "Switch". The great news was that his voice sounds the same as it did 30 years ago. Finally Maze and Frankie Beverly headlined the show with all of their massive hits and had the crowd on their feet. You know Brotha Ash Productions Media was in the building.
Brotha Ash joined Pittsburgh-area veteran writer/producer, Joseph Lewis, actor Terrell Tilford, actress Malinda Williams and Pittsburgh-area Emmy-winning producer, Emmai Alaquiva in a spirited discussion on Gordon Parks' influence on film and the future of African-American cinema.

BROTHA ASH PRODUCTIONS MEDIA THANKS YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SERVICE TO THE PITTSBURGH COMMUNITY!
"Blood First," chronicles the lives of two brothers, O and Rico, from childhood through adulthood, who eventually follow their father footstep into the dangerous drug trade. When the brothers learn that one of their associates has decided to cooperate with a federal investigation they must decide rather to run, fight the charges in the legal system or cooperate with the investigation by naming others that have dealt with them. The film fluidly mixes the past with present as audiences experience what events occur in their lives to make these men who they are today.
In an era of music where formulas and cookie cutter songs are the norm, it is refreshing to see an up and coming artist bringing something new to the scene, enters JC of The Finest. Justin Collins started out in the hip-hop and R&B group, The Finest. JC learned the ropes of the hip-hop scene, offering verses, and singing on the hooks with national artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Johnny Juliano, Max B, and Wes Fif.
JC is now running Top Floor Studios. He used to go to ID Labs Studios with E-Dan, who is the person he came up under. E-Dan mixed and mastered all of The Finest's material in the beginning. As time went on, JC became more hands on with the production, mixing and mastering. He was gradually breaking away from E-Dan to do his thing.
WE'RE DOING OUR OWN THING @ BAP BAP IS NOT NEW TO THIS, WE STARTED OUR COMPANY IN 1993 AND OFFICIALLY IN SEPTEMBER OF 2001
A MESSAGE FROM BROTHA ASH: We are happy to our BAP FAMILY that's been with us from the beginning and we thank God for you. By the beginning, I mean since 1993 when we started having our Mother's Day Cabarets, Blue Jean Cabarets, New York City Shopping Extravaganza's and trips to Las Vegas for shows, gambling and shopping. Officially, Brotha Ash Productions Media was founded in 2001 as we continued to do what we've done all along, events for the community. By 2004, our website was launched and we are very grateful for your support with our website, but please know that our site is only an extension of our company. It is NOT our company. In 2006, I was blessed to start working for the ONLY AFRICAN AMERICAN NEWSPAPER in Pittsburgh - "The New Pittsburgh Courier" and I'm still there today. If any media outlet is a first in Pittsburgh, I would have to say it's "The New Pittsburgh Courier" who has been in existence for over 100 years. We can't forget about "Talk Magazine" who is the first print magazine in the city of Pittsburgh for African Americans and these black media outlets are the shoulders I am proud to stand on today. In 2009, the city of Pittsburgh declared November 9th of every year "Brotha Ash Productions Day" and we celebrate our day every year. We are proud to have received many awards from various organizations and media outlets. Finally, my grandmother told me years ago, "The race is not given to swift nor to the strong, but to the one that endures until then. Just because you think you are first at something, you're not because others have laid the ground work long before you ever came along and being first at something doesn't make you the best - It just makes you the first." We've been doing OUR OWN THING since 1993 and we're still standing. I thank my grandmother for those inspirational and great words of wisdom! URBAN LEAGUE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS 10TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Brotha Ash Productions Media attended the ULYP's 10th anniversary featuring actor Boris Kodjoe, Tee Jay, DJ Nez, and Live City Entertainment. This event was sponsored by Comcast, Savoy Restaurant, Duquesne University and Donate Life. I also have to give a big shout to the President of the Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh, Marisa Bartley for being a gracious host. The Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh partnered with the National Society of Black Engineers to host the Power Networking Party, a feature event in celebration of ULYP's 10th anniversary, and NSBE's visit to Pittsburgh for their annual National Conference. This collaboration was the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the organizations, both locally and nationally. Some of the best and brightest young professionals and engineers from around the world were present. This was an exclusive networking opportunity for everyone and Brotha Ash Productions Media was glad to be a part of it!
The POISE Foundation believes a Sustainable Black Community in the Pittsburgh Region is essential for the well being and prosperity of African Americans. Developing an agreed upon set of values will provide the framework in which a viable and comprehensive strategy can be developed and executed to address the root causes that have created perpetual poverty and have destroyed many African American communities. We believe it is critical that the very individuals, who make up our community, share their voice. Thank you for lending your voice!

REQUEST FROM BROTHA ASH
CAN WE ALL JUST GET ALONG IN 2013?
usually don't get caught up in New Year's resolutions,
but I do want to share what my goal is for 2013. I
would like for us as a black race to come together to
be strong, black and proud of who we are. That is only
possible if we come together. Is
it possible for us as a black race to pull together, bury
the past, work together, and just get along - YES IT IS!!! If we come together and stop hatin on each other, stopkilling each other, stop talking about each other (well, that may be asking for
too much), and most important stop being "CRABS IN A BARREL", we can achieve
anything as long as we do it TOGETHER. Brotha Ash Productions is taking
a stand and putting it out there for all of our beautiful
black people to make the effort in 2013 to make this happen. We will continue to do our part by sharing our rich heritage
and being there for the African American community to
the fullest, but we are reaching out to you, (the community
and other black organizations) to let you know that we
want and need your help. It is possible and it is a reality. We are stronger together than apart.
you have any ideas on our we can make this happen, please
send it to BlackUnity@BrothaAshProductions.com because we want to make a difference in our communities. We
will post your comments for everyone to see. For those of you who are caught up in haters being against
you, remember what God has for you, no MAN or WOMAN
can take from you. Help
us bring our race BLACK TOGETHER one person at a time.
YOU KNOW MAJOR TAYLOR?
the late 1890's bicycle races drew crowds that filled Madison
Square Garden; the biggest draw of all was Marshall W. "Major"
Taylor. Having become the undisputed black champion
of America. Taylor overcame racial segregation and intolerance
to become to one-mile sprint world champion in 1898, and
by the end of 1899 held seven world cycling records!
is this important? The University of Pittsburgh's Center for Minority
health and Adventure Cycling Association share the goal
of encouraging people from all walks of life and cultural
backgrounds, including African Americans, to explore the
landscapes and history of America by bicycle. That
is why these two organizations are committed to creating
an Underground Railroad Bicycle Route. Throughout history
black people have used bicycles as a mode of transportation.
Both Major Taylor and the Underground Railroad represent
the struggle to freedom from slavery and the challenge
to elimate racial and ethnic health disparities. Visit
the Center for Minority Health @ www.cmh.pitt.edu or call 412-624-5665.
