NEW STATE OF BLACK PITTSBURGH ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The New State of Black Pittsburgh Annual Conference: Empowering Economic Self-Reliance was Monday, October 31, 2005 from 7:30am-2:00pm at Carnegie Mellon University, University Center - 5000 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA. This year's Annual Conference featured a new format and focused on empowering economic self-reliance. Expert presenters educated attendees on some the most significant topics facing the community today. The morning plenary session featured Urban League President Esther L. Bush discussing the day's topics with key presenters. The State of Black Pittsubrgh Address described the status of African Americans in Pittsburgh. It also offered strategies to address issues and improve the entire community. In its eighth year as a forum, the Annual Conference is a closely watched indicator of the African American community's views.
