ABOUT LEVI BARCOURT Levi Barcourt, who began studying piano at the age of 9, garnered four piano competition scholarships by the age of 16. After graduating from the famed High School of Music and Art in New York, he attended the Hartt College of Music at the University of Hartford and then the Purchase Conservatory of Music where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and his Master of Fine Arts degree. Levi has performed with the Harlem Opera Society as Pianist and Arranger, including several tours in Europe and the Virgin Islands. He has also performed at the Lincoln Center, The Schomberg Center and at Symphony Space, where he performed in the Wall-to-Wall concert series along with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, which aired live on WQXR radio in New York. He has also played with several symphony orchestras across the country such as: The Delaware Symphony Orchestra, The Carson Symphony in California, The Chattanooga Symphony, and the Tulsa Oklahoma Symphony, to name a few. He is currently serving as Pianist and Music Director for singer/actress, Melba Moore. They have recorded a live DVD from her performance at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, which continues to be aired on the cable networks as well as the BET Network. He has also worked as Music Director for the following artists: Freda Payne, Ed McMann, Regis Phibin and more. He has also arranged music for the New York Boy's Choir for the Jerry Lewis Telethon on WOR-TV. Levi was Music & Executive Director for the Gospel group Joshua whose CD aired on New York's CD 101.9, 98.7 Kiss FM, WWDJ and other radio stations in Europe and Trinidad. He also composed most of the compositions on that project. Joshua performed with the 9 time Grammy winning group Take 6 during a winter concert Christmas tour. Levi has won numerous awards for arranging, composing and producing which granted him a full voting membership to NARAS (Grammy's). A very versatile musician, Levi continues to teach and perform Classical, Gospel and contemporary jazz music all over the country and in Europe and is currently working on three solo CD projects.
