INTERVIEW WITH
HIP HOP LEGEND DARRYL "DMC"

PART
3 - DMC
ON THE STATE OF HIP HOP TODAY
Q:
Brotha Ash - How do you feel about the state of hip hop today?
A:
DMC - I
still listen to Public Enemy, Brand Nubians and Rakim because
it never gets old. The records that are out today people will
not want to listen to next year. It is all relevant, but it's
not real hip hop. They call the music out now Hip Hop/R&B,
but it's just R&B with someone rapper over it. Most of the
rappers that came out 10 years ago are not around today, but if
Big Daddy Kane walked in the room right now, it would be a big
deal. There are hip hop fans from back in the day that don't listen
to rap today. If they don't listen because of the violence over
the music, that is something the community has to deal with. I
am hoping that my new album can can direct fans from back in the
day, back to the music.
