WAMO 106.7FM BRING R&B SINGER AVANT TO BOSSA NOVA
AVANT IS BACK ON TOP WITH BRAND NEW CD

By Ashley G. Woodson for Brotha Ash Productions

BAP: What is the name of your new CD?
AVANT: The name of my new CD is definitely entitled "Avant". Which is dropping December 9, 2008. Everybody out there should not go to the record stores looking for a crazy name for the CD because it's just "Avant" and I respect my fans and thank you for everything.

BAP: What can we expect from the new CD?
AVANT: It's a lot of diversity on this CD. I dealt with different producers. I have the Trackmasters on this CD. I also have a new guy named Donte Winslow and he's really hot. It's just so much happening and it's a beautiful look. The first single is called "It's Hurts". The reason I put this out first is because there a lot of things going on in relationships that hurt.l Everybody's watching reality TV so I thought I would hit them with reality music. At some point a relationship is going to hurt.

BAP: Why did you change record labels?
AVANT: I felt like it was time for me to change the scene. I think we went as far as we could go at that time. Now I'm with Capitol Records and they understand my position and movement. Big ups to Capitol Records for showing me love and letting me do another wonderful album.

BAP: You've been compared to R. Kelly? What's your take on that?
AVANT: When I first came into the game he was running the 90's and to place me in the same category as R. Kelly in the 2000's was a blessing. Now I have carved a way for myself, so now it's whatever.

BAP: Are you touring with the new CD?
AVANT: I am definitely touring with the new CD. I am putting everything together. It's going to be crazy and I can't wait to get back to Pittsburgh to tour and show my people love. That is what I want.

BAP: Do you have a record label of your own? If so, do you have any new artist we should be on the lookout for?
AVANT: I'm actually putting together a record label. I do not having any artist right now, but after this album I will be doing a duet with Kee Kee Wyatt because everybody wants that so I have to make that happen.

BAP: What ever happened to Kee Kee Wyatt?
AVANT: Nothing has happened. She went into a few different directions and record labels. Now she feels like this is the right time and she feels free to make things happen.

BAP: What do you want people to know about Avant that they don't already know?
AVANT: I am an honest guy and I do everything I can for my fans. It's all about the fans because the music is for you.

Jada McGlocklin says she loves R&B and Avant has the kind of music that puts her in the mood. She loves Avant's music because it makes her feel sexy. She also says that he is sexy and she has all of his albums. She can't wait until the CD drops. She's excited about meeting Avant and touching him.

Deitra Turner and Shamara say, "He is the R&B singer that still sings ballads and he has a beautiful voice. I won the tickets from WAMO and I'm glad. The music puts me in the mood.

Klonda & Ebony say they like Avant because he is hot and he is an older guy that's still got it. He has his own style, but he reminds them of Aaron Hall. I have all of his CD's and I listen to them all. Her daughter loves his music and his vocals are different and it's all his own.
